Before joining TC World Nick worked for a friends dad in the Online Retail Industry as an everyday picker and packer. Soon, the company recognised that Nick had great potential and he was promoted at the age of 19 to Manager assisting in the running of the company. Over time Nick realised that due to his young age and lack of experience his ideas and plans to help improve the company growth were always over looked.
“I had increased turnaround time in the warehouse to a point where staff expenses were cut and due to our efficiency we saved £30,000. I felt I had proven myself as a good manager, to enable me to have a voice, but this wasn’t to be, I kept being overlooked.”
Nick felt the need to gain the skills he so needed to earn respect as a manager and decided to attend university to learn how to run his own company. “I felt I knew how to look after the front end just had no idea of how the back end worked, and realised the only way my opinion would always count is if I ran my own company.”
After Nicks first year at university he decided to work abroad for the summer, which was an amazing experience for him, enabling him to learn new customer service and people skills. Unfortunately due to the recession the airline company went bankrupt leaving him stranded in Zante with no way home to carry on his second year.
“I decide to take a year out to get some work experience before continuing with my studies, which is when I came across TC World, I couldn’t of landed on my feet any easier if I tried. I went to university to learn how to run a company with no guarantied opportunity at the end, but TC World offered me the opportunity to do what I always wanted.”
“Matt explained with the Owner/Partner Scheme TC World could provide a network of experience that I could learn from, a client and an opportunity to run my own location. This is exactly what I was looking for and within 14 months of joining I was in a position to run my own office. To date I have had the opportunity to sell and trial many different products. I have managed offices in Liverpool, London, Preston and now Nottingham. As of October 2012 I will be opening a brand new location in Newcastle.”
Nicks company goal is to become ‘New Owner of the Year’ at the Summer Raleigh Award Ceremony and open 4 offices before summer 2013 and eventually expand into the US by 2014.
Oliver joined TC world during December 2012, from previously working behind the bar.
He had been working at the restaurant for two years and never really progressed in company. He always worked really hard and never got anything in return other than the same amount of money as the people in thesame position as me.
"I left to find something more challenging, and more rewarding. When I started in the company, it was clear to see that the opportunities were much greater than any I had ever experienced in my previous position and I for one was ready to take advantage of that. Almost 7 months on, I’ve now moved from the Manchester office, to running my own deal in Newcastle. I work in the office along side Nick Medland, who is currently running the home efficiency campaign, and Chelsea Bonner who is our location admin. I believe that we have a strong team and I very much look forward to the future of what I can achieve in the company, and continuously expanding my business.
My goals and aims for the future are to retire my parents when I am 25 years old and secure my immediate family for the future. I want to expand my business into the states within the next five years and progress to vice presidency."
Chelsea started working for TC World at the end of October 2012. Before working for TC World she had explored a couple of different avenues and found that she was always looking for something more, somewhere she could gain more responsibility and experience to help her grow and build a career which she would be happy in and actually enjoy.
"My role at TC World began as a recruitment administrator working with Nick who works within the Home Efficiency division however my role has recently changed, over time the company has rapidly expanded and now I am working as a location admin where I look after not only Nick, but now I have the pleasure of working with Oliver who has recently been promoted in Manchester and has brought the Sports division to Newcastle. Since working for TC World I have learnt so much and had the opportunity to work within a great circle of people. As for the office there is always a great atmosphere, we have a fun working environment and we have some great guys working here and the potential to expand even further is not too far away.
My Goals have always been to grow the office, help the Owners achieve their goals and to further my career. In the future I would love the chance to train new admin’s in the TC World Organisation."
